Updating Node.js, NPM and express.jS
I has been some time since i had played around with express.js and the node version that i was using was also outdated. So i decided to update them all; and figured out it was not that difficult to do it in the first place.
First of all i had got my node installed at /home/user/. I had to move it from here. So i started off by removing node
#navigated into node folder cd /home/user #and remove it make uninstall #should show an success message on removal
Installing NodeNow its back to square one. Start installing latest node. And i wanted to install v0.6.2 and at usr/local/src
#Navigate to usr/local/src cd /usr/local/src # download node-v0.6.2 wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.6.2/node-v0.6.2.tar.gz #extract and navigate to the source tar xvzf node-v0.6.2.tar.gz cd node-v0.6.2 #and build it ./configure make -j2 make install #the show begins #check the version once done node --version v0.6.2
Now lets move to npmLike most sites refer. If you tried running
npm update -gTo update npm it will probably throw up an error What i had done was just to let npm do it its way.
curl http://npmjs.org/install.sh | sh #life couldnt be easier
Updating ExpressUpdating Express is also easy if you already have express installed, then
npm update express -g #would update it globaly. Else just install it npm install express -gThere you go, all set for Noding
